MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The City of Memphis is under a Flash Flood Emergency.
Several consecutive days of heavy rainfall have roads across the Memphis metro area shut down as flood waters rise.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation announced road closures across the Western Tennessee after a series of severe storms, hail and tornadoes hit the Mid-South in the early days of April 2025.
As of writing, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi are under a state of emergency.
In their statement, TDOT officials explained that the situation is changing quickly with road closures subject to change.
Please remember: Cars can stall or be swept away in floods; it only takes 6 inches of water to stall. Turn around, don’t drown.
