The 2025 MLB season is now in full swing, and one team that has quickly made its mark is the San Diego Padres, who wrapped up a four-game series at home against the Atlanta Braves.
It could not have been scripted any better for the Padres, completing the four-game sweep, winning 5-0, making them one of the last undefeated teams, along with the Los Angeles Dodgers (5-0), New York Yankees (3-0), and St. Louis Cardinals (3-0).

This impressive start also makes history for San Diego, with MLB revealing in a social media post that it’s just the second time the team has started 4-0 since its inaugural season in 1969.
The last time they accomplished this feat was in 1984, which also happened to be the first time the Padres made the World Series before falling to the Detroit Tigers in five games.
One of the biggest contributors to completing the sweep was starting pitcher Nick Pivetta, who, on Sunday, threw seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit, zero walks, and striking out four.

Throughout the series, outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. emerged as the biggest offensive threat, with 15 at-bats, seven hits, five runs scored, one home run, two RBI, two walks and three stolen bases.

It will now remain to be seen if the Padres can continue to ride this wave, as they’re now set to host the Cleveland Guardians for a two-game series.
