CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Reds starter Hunter Greene’s Opening Day is done, leaving the game against the San Francisco Giants after five innings, leading 3-2.

After leadoff man LaMonte Wade Jr. popped up for the first out of the game, Greene struck out the next five Giants he faced. He finished with eight strikeouts over five innings with a walk, three hits and two runs allowed. Both runs came on a fourth-inning Heliot Ramos homer that capped an 11-pitch at-bat.

Greene averaged 99.2 mph on 59 four-seam fastballs, including 10 that were at least 100 mph. Overall, he threw 85 pitches, 49 strikes. Right-hander Scott Barlow pitched a scoreless sixth for the Reds.

Giants starter Logan Webb also left after five innings, allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts. All three Reds runs off of Webb were on singles by Jeimer Candelario, with Elly De La Cruz scoring twice. Webb threw 78 pitches, 46 for strikes. Randy Rodriguez pitched the sixth for San Francisco.
