The Mets’ offense was nearly nonexistent. The team posted only one hit, a double by Juan Soto in the first inning. Francisco Lindor is 0-for-11 to start the season.
New York is off today, then begins a three-game series with the Marlins on Monday at 6:40 p.m. ET.

According to Metsmerized’s Michael Mayer, outfielder José Azócar has cleared outright waivers and will be assigned to the Triple-A Syracuse Mets. The outfielder spent spring training with the Mets. In 21 games (44 at-bats) this spring, Azócar batted .250/.283/.318 with a home run and six RBIs.
Juan Soto’s first regular-season home run in a Mets uniform will be turned into a Topps 1/1 baseball trading card. The card features a piece of a game-used base from Soto’s home run trot. One collector who buys the open-edition version of the card will receive the 1/1.

According to the Atlanta Braves official X account, Spencer Strider began a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday night. During his assignment, Strider tossed three innings, allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out six and walking one batter.
According to MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson, Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer says his lat injury is 100% related to his thumb, and he felt he would put himself in “imminent danger” if he kept pitching. In only 43 1/3 innings for the Rangers last season, Scherzer logged a 3.95 ERA with a 2-4 record.
Per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, after hitting his first big league home run on Saturday night, infielder Kristian Campbell and the Red Sox are in deep talks on a contract extension. Campbell, 22, appeared in 115 Red Sox games at multiple minor league levels in 2024, ranging from High-A to Triple-A, while slashing .330/.439/.558 with 24 stolen bases.
The defending-champion Dodgers are 5-0 to start the season after sweeping the Tigers. Per Sarah Langs of MLB, they’re the fourth defending World Series champions to start a campaign 5-0 and the first since 1985.
