In the Golden State Warriors‘ Game 1 win over the Houston Rockets on Sunday night, Steph Curry climbed into 17th place on the list of all-time field goals made in the playoffs with his 1,336th.
It wasn’t just Curry who provided a noteworthy statistic in the Warriors’ 95-85 win, though. Coach Steve Kerr secured his 100th career playoff win, passing Red Auerbach, Boston’s nine-time championship winning coach. Sunday’s victory moved Kerr into a tie with Larry Brown for sixth on the elite list.

The NBA sent a message to Kerr afterward.
“Congrats to Steve Kerr of the @warriors for reaching 100 career playoff wins and moving into 6th on the all-time playoff COACHING WINS list!” the league posted on X.
The personal accolade is well and good, but it is likely not at the top of his list of priorities. The Warriors pulled off a huge win to steal home-court advantage from the Rockets, and they will want to keep the momentum going in Game 2 on Wednesday.
For what it’s worth, Golden State is 15 wins away from its fifth championship of this era. This means Kerr, at least mathematically, has a chance to climb as high as fourth on the list this offseason. That is highly unlikely, though, given the two coaches immediately ahead of Kerr are also competing in the playoffs.
