An audacious and gripping new crime show has just hit Netflix, and the reviews are so positive that the series currently boasts a perfect score on RottenTomatoes. The new show is Adolescence, a four-episode UK drama focused on a 13-year-old named Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) who is accused of murdering one of his classmates.
The show hit Netflix on Thursday, March 14, and as of Friday, holds a 100 percent score on RT from critics, and a 95 percent score from the general audience. “An emotional powerhouse that sneaks up and floors you,” wrote Peter Travers for ABC News. While, Amber Dowling at The Wrap added: “Overall, Adolescence is an addictive but impossibly hard watch, made even more compelling by terrific acting and an intense story that raises relevant questions about society today.”
The extremely dark series is also filmed in a very unique and specific way. Each episode is filmed in one continuous shot, meaning there are no quick cuts. Instead, the action of the series is meant to imitate real life as much as possible.
To be sure, Adolescence is a disturbing watch, but when everyone seemingly agrees something is good and relevant, can we look away?
