Oscars 2025: Shannen Doherty’s Rep Calls Out In Memoriam Snub

Watch: Michelle Trachtenberg Left Out of Oscars 2025 In Memoriam: Gene Hackman & More Honored

Shannen Doherty‘s loved ones want to see her legacy live on.

After she was left out of the 2025 Oscars‘ In Memoriam, which celebrates members of the film industry who have passed away over the last year, a former rep for the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum—who died in July at age 59—spoke out on her exclusion from the segment.

In fact, Shannen’s longtime rep told TMZ Mar. 3 that it was really disappointing to not see her honored at the ceremony, which was hosted by Conan O’Brien.

And members of Shannen’s inner circle weren’t the only people upset that she didn’t feature in the award show’s In Memoriam, which this year honored Hollywood legends including Gene HackmanDavid Lynch, Jeff Baena, Maggie SmithBob Newhart and Donald Sutherland.

Fans of the actress—who passed away after battling stage 4 breast cancer—also expressed their frustration at her decades-long entertainment career not being highlighted during the March 2 show. After all, in addition to starring on TV shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed, Shannen appeared in iconic movies such as Heathers and Mallrats

“No Shannen Doherty—star of one of the great films HEATHERS—in the In Memoriam is an outrageous slap in the face,” one user wrote on X March 2. “She was a groundbreaker in the way she stood up for herself and voiced her own opinions during a time when women in the industry were supposed to keep quiet.”

Another added, “The #Oscar not showing Shannen Doherty hit me like a brick. They missed so many people. But she’s forever a winner in my eyes & heart.”

E! News reached out to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science for comment but has not heard back.

Shannen was one of several fallen stars who were notably missing from the Academy Awards In Memoriam segment. Fans also pointed out that Michelle Trachtenberg, Tony Todd, Bernard Hill and Morgan Spurlock were left out of the tribute.

And while the actress may not have been honored at the Oscars, Shannen was celebrated during the moving In Memoriam segments at this year’s Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Additionally, several of her former costars have publicly paid tribute to the Charmed alum since her untimely passing.

“Our connection was real and honest,” her Beverly Hills, 90210 castmate Jennie Garth wrote on Instagram July 14. “We were so often pitted against each other but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship which was one built on mutual respect and admiration.”

Describing Shannen as “courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous,” she added, “I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories.”
