DETROIT — The Detroit Pistons adapted well to Isaiah Stewart’s absence Monday in Game 2 against the New York Knicks.
They’ll need to respond in similar fashion tonight in Game 3 at Little Caesars Arena.
Stewart will miss his second game in a row due to right knee inflammation, according to the NBA injury report.
Stewart exited Game 1 on Saturday with 9:06 left in the fourth quarter and the Knicks reeled off the next 19 points during a 21-0 run that completely flipped the game.
He finished with five rebounds and two blocked shots in 19 minutes in his playoff debut. At plus-8, he had the only positive rating among Pistons.
Stewart’s defense on Karl-Anthony Towns, in particular, is vital, but he also can defend multiple positions, even point guard Jalen Brunson.
Tobias Harris, despite giving away four inches, did a solid job of defending Towns in Game 2, helping hold him to 10 points.
