Pittsburgh loses Davante Adams to Rams—should Steelers be concerned ahead of free agency?

Davante Adams has evaded the Pittsburgh Steelers’ grasp once again! The Steel City will once again have to settle for speculation and ‘what if’ scenarios regarding the All-Pro, 32-year-old wide receiver, as Adams has officially signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams.

Adams’ two-year, $46 million deal is a solid pickup for the soon-to-be Cooper Kupp-less Rams and likely shuts the door on any chance of a reunion with his former team.

The Pittsburgh Steelers showed interest in acquiring Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2024 regular season, but he ultimately landed with his former Packers teammate, QB Aaron Rodgers, on the New York Jets. Heading into the 2025 offseason, Adams was considered a top-tier free agent for the Black and Gold to pursue.

First Tee Higgins, now Adams—Steelers’ options at wide receiver are thinning as the start of the 2025 league year approaches.

Several elite wide receivers still remain on the market, including Stefon Diggs, Amari Cooper, and Chris Godwin. Whether or not the Pittsburgh Steelers will be willing to spend top dollar on these remaining options is another question entirely.
