“Every effort will be made to ensure that justice is done. The entire nation is firm in this resolve. Everyone who believes in humanity is with us. I thank the people of various countries and their leaders who have stood with us in these times,” he added.
Modi’s switch to English in Madhubani was widely seen as a calculated move to send a message to global leaders — India will not stay silent and the attack will have consequences.
📌 2. No safe haven for terrorists: PM Modi vowed that India would relentlessly pursue the perpetrators. “We will pursue them to the ends of the world… terrorism will not go unpunished.”
In one of the most hard-hitting lines of his speech, the PM said, “These terrorists and those who conspired towards this attack will get a punishment bigger than they can imagine…”
Calling the Pahalgam massacre more than just violence against civilians, PM Modi declared, “This attack was not just on unarmed tourists; the enemies of the nation have dared to attack the soul of Bharat.”
📌3. Nation united in grief: He declared, “India’s spirit will never be broken and terrorism will not go unpunished. Every effort will be made to ensure justice is done.”
He said people lost their sons, brothers and husbands and noted that the victims belong to different parts of India, be it Bengal, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha and Bihar.
“Among those killed, someone spoke Bangla, someone was Marathi, someone spoke Kannada, someone was Odiya, someone was Gujarati, and someone was the son of Bihar. Today, from Kargil to Kanyakumari, we are united in our grief over their demise. Our anger is also similar,” PM said in Hindi.
📌4. Attack on Pakistan: In a message to Pakistan without naming the country, Modi on Thursday said he will state it categorically that the terrorists who carried out the attack and those who hatched the conspiracy, they will be punished beyond their imagination. “Punishment will definitely be served.”
“The time has come to raze whatever is left of the terror haven. The will of 140 crores will break the back of the masters of terror,” he said.
📌 5. Thanks to allies: The PM in his speech also thanked global powers — including the US, European Union, Russia, Israel, and China — for condemning the attack and standing with India.
“Everyone who believes in humanity is with us. I thank people and leaders of countries who have stood with us,” PM Modi said as he acknowledged the reaction of world leaders after the attack on Tuesday.
As part of a calibrated response, India has suspended the 65-year-old water-sharing pact with Pakistan, intensifying pressure on Islamabad. PM Modi flew back from Saudi Arabia immediately after the attack, held multiple review meetings, and has not ruled out further action, including military strikes.
Reaffirming India’s stand on terrorism, Modi posted on X: “Those behind this heinous act will not be spared… their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakeable…”
