Police continue to investigate the untimely death of a woman in Bennington County

Police received a report of an unresponsive woman along the banks of Roaring Branch River on April 14.

Police are continuing to investigate the untimely death of a woman in Bennington.According to Bennington police, a 911 call was received on April 14. The caller reported that the woman they were with, 24-year-old Marion Nyweide, was unresponsive in a wooded area near the Roaring Branch River off Park Street. Police arrived and attempted lifesaving measures, but Nyweide was pronounced dead on the scene just before 5 p.m.The person who contacted 911 is cooperating with investigators, who are currently investigating this case as a possible accidental overdose. However, police say this investigation is ongoing and they are still waiting on a final autopsy and toxicology reports from the chief medical examiner.
