A gunman opened fire at a Manhattan office building that houses the NFL and top financial firms, including KPMG and Blackstone, on Monday evening before being killed, New York City officials said.
The big picture: NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said on X that the “lone shooter has been neutralized,” but police did not immediately confirm reports that multiple people had been shot.
- An NYPD spokesperson said over the phone that police were still gathering information on injuries.
Zoom out: FBI deputy director Dan Bongino said on X that agents from the bureau were on the scene at 345 Park Avenue to assist the NYPD.
- Attorney General Pam Bondi noted on X that the U.S. Attorney in New York, Jay Clayton, had “set up a command post to assist with the shooting in New York City and local FBI agents are on the scene.”
