Quake that set off Tsunami warnings recorded in Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The earthquake that set off Tsunami warnings across the Pacific on Tuesday was so large it was recorded on a seismograph in Kansas.

Data from the Kansas Geological Survey indicate that a seismograph in Sedgwick County detected the massive 8.8 magnitude quake recorded off the eastern coast of Russia.

Multiple tsunami warnings and watches have been issued for parts of the Alaska Aleutian Islands, the West Coast, including California, Oregon, and Washington, as well as Hawaii. A Tsunami already hit coastal areas of Russia’s Kuril Islands and Japan’s large northern island of Hokkaido.
