Raiders acquire QB Geno Smith

HENDERSON, Nev. – The Las Vegas Raiders have acquired QB Geno Smith via a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, the club announced Thursday. As part of the trade terms, Las Vegas will send the Seahawks a third-round selection (92nd overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Smith enters his 13th NFL Season and joins the Raiders after five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks (2020-24). He originally entered the league as a second-round draft pick of the New York Jets in the 2013 NFL Draft and spent four years with the club before spending time with the New York Giants (2017) and Los Angeles Chargers (2018).

A two-time Pro Bowler (2022-23) and AP Comeback Player of the Year (2022), Smith has appeared in 94 career games with 83 starts and completed 1,721-of-2,655 passes (64.8 percent) for 19,143 yards, 105 touchdowns, 72 interceptions and a 88.0 passer rating. He also has 316 rushing attempts for 1,494 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Over the past three seasons with the Seahawks (2022-24), Smith has the third-best completion percentage in the NFL (68.5 percent) and owns 13 games with 300-plus passing yards, tied for the fifth-most in the league over that span. Since 2022, Smith has averaged 249.5 passing yards per game (eighth-most), totaled 71 passing touchdowns (tied for eighth), and recorded 19 games with a 100.0-plus passer rating (fifth-most) over that span.

In 2022, he set career-highs and franchise single-season records in attempts (572), completions (399), yards (4,282) and completion percentage (69.76, first in NFL). Smith also ranked fifth in the NFL with a career-high 100.9 passer rating, while leading the league with nine games with a 70-or-higher completion percentage and 10 games with a 100-plus passer rating.

A native of Miami, Fla., Smith played four seasons (2009-12) at West Virginia, appearing in 44 games with 39 starts to post a 26-13 record as a starter and set school records for completions (988), passing yards (11,662) and touchdown passes (98).
