Raising Cane’s and Wingstop are skirmishing this weekend

Raising Cane’s will be giving away Chicken Fingers on Sunday, July 27 to mark its own holiday.

The chain’s founder Todd Graves created National Chicken Finger Day in 2010 as a way to promote his product. Chicken Fingers are battered and fried chicken strips, and they make up the bulk of his menu. Other fast food chains call them chicken tenders or strips.

On Sunday, Raising Cane’s will be adding an extra Chicken Finger to every Box Combo it sells.

The deal is a partnership with Snoop Dogg, and Raising Cane’s is using it to promote Snoop’s latest album, “Iz It a Crime?”

All this is business as usual, but Wingstop complicated the picture by filing an application to register July 27 as National Chicken Tender Day, the chain announced in a news release.

Wingstop is using the situation to promote what its website calls new Crispy Tender Combos. Specifically, it’s pushing a six-piece Crispy Tender Meal for 2. it comes with two flavors of chicken, two sides and two dips for about $14.99.

There are more chicken deals on the way. Tuesday, July 29 is National Chicken Wing Day. Check back here on Monday evening to see what chains are offering.
