Ruben Amorim reserved special praise for Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, following the Dane’s decisive performance against Bournemouth in Chicago.

Our no.13 assisted Rasmus Hojlund’s opener before finding the net himself, as the Reds coasted to a 4-1 victory in the Premier League Summer Series.

Six months on from his move to United, Dorgu – still only 20 – is looking more and more like a Manchester United player, according to the boss, who also had words for Rasmus Hojlund’s hold-up play and the decisive contribution offered by substitute Ethan Williams.

Read what Ruben had to say to MUTV’s Harry Robinson below…

WE’RE GETTING BETTER

“Really, pleased. I think the intensity was there. They are so focused in the games. They are really focused in training. They are bonding with each other. So, it was a good test. We controlled really well Evanilson and [Antoine] Semenyo and that is really important. We pressed high. I think we improved the way we had our possession. It was not so fast, like against West Ham, so the lads are hearing everything, and they are trying.”

PHYSICALITY IS IMPROVING

“It’s really important because first of all, everyone has to be prepared. Then I think we improve in the physicality of the game. We are more competitive. That is really important and we suffered a lot last season. We had some issues in the corners defending, but we attacked really well. So we have a lot to do, but it’s a good feeling to see the team playing like this.”

PLEASED WITH RASMUS BEYOND HIS GOAL

“For me, it’s more than a goal. For him, it’s more important the goal and for the fans maybe it’s more important the goal. We need goals. But the way he’s linking the play in this moment, the way he’s fighting for the balls, sometimes we are pressed, we can kick the ball and he’s connecting the ball. That is so important for us to play better. So he’s doing a very good job.”

PATRICK BELONGS HERE

“It’s impressive. He’s 20 years old. He looks more and more like he belongs in Manchester United, and that is hard to do it [at] 20 years old, but he’s so powerful, he’s getting his technique in his game, he’s defending so well, he’s pressing so well. So I’m really impressed with Patrick.”

BRUNO CONTROLLED THE GAME

“I think it was really important, the connection with Amad, the ability to control the ball inside and outside to maintain possession. Bruno is a player [who is] really smart, that can control the tempo of the game, so I’m really happy with him.”

I LOVED ETHAN’S GOAL!

“I celebrate that goal. It’s not usual, even during the season, but I celebrate that goal, because I really like to see the kids that work really well. They didn’t have a lot of space during trainings, but still they are there, they understand the idea, they pressed, they fight. So I’m really pleased with them. They control the game. They try to score more goals, so I’m really pleased.”
