SPORTS. CHARLEY GOOD STUFF. THANK YOU. IT MAY BE A LOSS ON THE FIELD, BUT THE OPENING DAY TRADITION HERE IN CINCINNATI, IT’S ALWAYS A WIN. IT WAS SO FUN BEING OUT THERE TODAY, WASN’T IT? WLWT NEWS WES DAISY KERSHAW WAS OUT THERE ALL DAY AND NIGHT TALKING WITH FANS. SHE’S LIVE TONIGHT WITH MORE ON THE EXCITEMENT. ALTHOUGH I THINK DAISY MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE MOST EXCITED FAN OUT THERE. HI DAISY. HI THERE. SHEREE. THAT’S RIGHT. I MIGHT HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE MOST EXCITED FANS OUT THERE, BUT I CERTAINLY HAD MY COMPETITION CUT OUT FOR ME BECAUSE YOU SEE THE ENERGY THAT CINCINNATI FANS BRING, IT’S INCREDIBLE. IT’S ELECTRIC. AND NOW THE CROWDS ARE STARTING TO MOVE OUT. BUT IT WAS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL OPENING DAY. ON THE STREETS OF CINCINNATI, IT’S ALL SMILES AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE. FAMILIES AND FRIENDS WATCHING FLOATS GO BY. I LIKE THAT ALL THE MASCOTS, ALL FILLED WITH ANTICIPATION FOR THAT FIRST PITCH. THERE’S NOTHING LIKE REDS OPENING DAY. NOBODY ELSE DOES IT THE WAY WE DO IT. AND I LOVE IT. WHETHER IT’S YOUR FIRST TIME CELEBRATING. OR ANOTHER YEAR IN THE BOOKS, DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST OPENING DAY? I WAS ABOUT 13 YEARS OLD. ON THIS DAY, WE ALL SHARE IN A BELOVED TRADITION. YOU SEE, GENERATIONS OF PEOPLE COME OUT HERE, YOU TALK TO HIM, HIS GRANDPA, GRANDKIDS. THERE’S EVERYONE HERE. THEY ENJOY OPENING DAY, A CELEBRATION OF OUR TEAM AND OF OUR CITY. AND I LOVE CINCINNATI IS MY FAVORITE PLACE TO BE. I LOVE FOLKS COMING FROM FAR AND WIDE TO BE HERE. I BIKED FROM A KETTERING AND DAYTON AREA TO LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY. SPENT LAST NIGHT THERE AND THEN BIKES BACK TO CINCINNATI TODAY. HOW MANY MILES IS THAT? ABOUT 250. THEIR FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON DIDN’T END THE WAY FANS HOPED. IN THIS CITY, IT’S NEVER ABOUT THE FINAL SCORE. IT’S ABOUT TRADITION. WE DO THIS EVERY YEAR. MY GREAT GRANDFATHER PLAYED FOR THE REDS BACK IN 1926. THEY HAVE THIS DAY WITH THE FAMILY IS MORE THAN I CAN. I CAN EVER DREAM OF THE TRADITION WILL CONTINUE. WIN OR LOSE, IT DOESN’T MATTER. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME CELEBRATING OPENING DAY HERE IN CINCINNATI, AND ONE THING THAT WILL NEVER GET OLD IS GETTING TO TALK TO PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR MEMORIES. THE GENERATIONS WHO HAVE COME HERE AND SHARED IN THE EXCITEMENT OF THIS DAY. IT’S REALLY, REALLY SPECIAL AND JUST WONDERFUL TO BEHOLD. REPORTING LI
