TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A video of a Florida charter captain and fisherman getting into a heated argument under the Barron Collier Bridge has made the rounds on social media.
The full video, posted on fisherman Gage Towles’ YouTube channel, showed how the argument began, with Captain Brock Horner asking Towles if he was in the area the other morning.
“You cussing me out?” Horner asked.
The 22-year-old fisherman then responded saying it was another person. However, the argument continued to escalate with Horner shouting that the fishermen need to have their lights on during the night.
“Bro, you can’t come flying through the middle of the f—— bridge,” Towles responded.
‘Bulls—-, yes I can!” Horner shouted back.
Things began escalating when Horner brought his boat next to Towles’ vessel.
“I’m the best charter captain you will ever meet!” Horner said.
Horner then stepped on Towles’ boat, causing, as you can hear, the younger fisherman to panic as the captain shouted. The encounter ended with Towles’ apologizing to Horner and bringing him back to his boat.
The incident is currently under investigation by Punta Gorda police, the Florish Fish and Widlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Horner’s attorney released a statement to NBC affiliate WBBH saying the captain apologizes to Gage’s family.
“Brock is not proud of how he acted. But it’s important to remember: we are not the sum of our worst day. That video captured one moment—not the whole of who he is.”
In the description of Towles’ YouTube video, he said he “never wanted to post this video n the first place because it made me feel so weak but I was already having a horrible day and this iced the cake.”
“I look at it now like I possibly can save another person from Brock Horner or possibly someone’s life by getting this captain off the water,” he wrote.” I’ve heard some horrible sad stories by some other people.”
