Seven out of seven for Flick in finals

He did the trick again, as when Hansi Flick is your coach in a final, you are going to win. The German coach has played seven and won seven, no mean feat. The latest came with FC Barcelona in the defeat of Real Madrid to win the Copa del Rey. Another successful chapter in cup finals for the blaugrana coach, whose record is unblemished.

Two from two with Barça…

Flick comes into finals already ready to lift the trophy, as if he makes them he wins. He has shown that seven times now. The latest was very special because FC Barcelona defeated Real Madrid to add another Copa del Rey trophy to the cabinet in the Museum. After the Spanish Super Cup win, this is the second final in a row that Flick’s Barça side have beaten Ancelotti’s Real Madrid team to win a trophy.

It’s been a tremendous season so far and FC Barcelona fans have enjoyed some incredibly euphoric moments. They again proved victorious in the challenge against their traditional opponents, who currently can’t seem to find the formula to beat this current Barça side, who have proved unbeatable in both finals so far against the all-whites this season.

… and versus Real Madrid

It is just over three months since the blaugranes got a “manita” – scoring five goals in the Spanish Super Cup final. A superb 2-5 win in the final for the German coach, with goals coming from Lamine Yamal, Lewandowski, Raphinha (2), and Balde in Jeddah.

After Saudi Arabia, success came in Seville. The La Cartuja stadium was showered with blaugrana confetti as Flick won another final. Kounde sent the blaugrana fans wild and they were overjoyed to win a final against Real Madrid again. It almost seems like a given with Hansi Flick on the bench.

Five others with Bayern Munich

The German coach’s pedigree in finals goes back to his time in his home country. When he arrived in the Catalan capital on 29 May 2024, his record was five finals played, five finals won, all with Bayern Munich. No mean feat at all.

This positive record in finals began for Hansi Flick with the German Cup win on 4 July 2020. He would go on to win finals in the Champions League, the European Super Cup, the German Super Cup, and the Club World Cup. We blaugrana fans are lucky to join him on the ride through finals, and hopefully there is another successful chapter to come in the not so distant future!
