NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Our First Alert Weather Days continue through the weekend as another round of strong-to-severe storms will move through with more flooding concerns.
FLOODING THREAT:
A Flood Watch is in effect for most of the area until 7:00 A.M. Sunday.
Multiple rounds of soaking downpours are expected off and on today and Sunday. The most persistent rain will fall over southern Kentucky, northwest Middle Tennessee, and West Tennessee. There, on top of what has already fallen this week, an additional 5-7″ of rain will be possible, with some areas possibly receiving even more than that. Prepare for widespread, life-threatening flash flooding there. Rivers will also continue to rise reaching flood stage in time in most cases.
Farther south and east, rounds of rain are also likely, but they’ll be less persistent. In the greater Nashville area, an additional 2-4″ of rain is likely. Southeastern Middle Tennessee is expected to get 1-3″ of rain by the end of the weekend.

SEVERE STORMS TODAY:
There’s another chance for strong-to-severe storms again this afternoon and evening. A line of storms will move into Middle Tennessee ahead of a strong cold front this afternoon. Torrential downpours, gusty damaging wind, large hail, and tornadoes are all possible. The main timeline for these threats will be between 2:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. as these storms track from west to east.
Even after the severe threat is done, heavy rain will continue to fall through Sunday, which will create flooding issues to continue.
The cold front will settle in on Sunday, which will lead to a dramatic drop in temperatures. We’ll go from 80º on Saturday to the 50s on Sunday.

NEXT WEEK:
We finally dry out late Sunday into Monday. We’ll get a good amount of sunshine and dry weather Monday through Wednesday, but that will come with cooler weather. Temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s during the day with lows in the 30s and 40s.
More rain is expected again on Thursday, mainly in the evening. Rain should clear out by Friday with temperatures warming by the end of the week back into the upper 60s.
