Shedeur Sanders’ Fall in NFL Draft Draws Big Admission from Brother Shilo

Shilo Sanders had the most telling response after Shedeur Sanders became the biggest storyline from the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur, who was evaluated and projected by Athlon Sports as a likely first round pick, did not hear his name called by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on night one of the NFL Draft on Thursday.

“We all didn’t expect this,” Sanders said at his one-of-a-kind draft party inside a custom-built viewing room alongside his father, Deion Sanders and his brothers, Shilo Sanders and Deion Sanders Jr.

“All this is is of course more fuel to the fire,” the quarterback said after night one. “Under no circumstance we all know this shouldn’t have happened. We understand we are on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow is the day. We’re going to be happy regardless. Legendary.”

The unexpected slide was not just a wake up call for Shedeur.

Coming into the draft, Colorado safety Shilo Sanders was far less of a slam dunk prospect than his younger brother Shedeur.

Athlon Sports’ Luke Easterling ranked him outside of the top 300 prospects and outside of the top 20 safeties. He was not selected in Doug Farrar’s final seven-round mock draft, either.

After seeing how Shedeur was passed up in the first round amid concerns about everything that comes with drafting a member of the Sanders family, Shilo admitted his own worries in a video shot by Deion Jr.

“I don’t even know what they going to do with me because they’re doing you like this,” Shilo admitted to Shedeur, drawing a huge laugh.

“If they making him wait, oh buddy!” he continued. “Me?!”

No one will be more disappointed in the results of the first round than Shedeur Sanders, but the response from Shilo showed that Shedeur might not be the only loser from the unexpected turn of events on night one.
