In the weeks following the 2024 college football season, former Colorado star Shedeur Sanders was viewed as the potential No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
The Tennessee Titans were in desperate need of a quarterback, but even if they didn’t select him, there were a number of quarterback-needy teams laying in wait. Fast forward to four months later – and three days into the NFL draft – and Sanders is still waiting to hear his name called.

After three rounds of action and 102 picks, the star quarterback still doesn’t know where he’ll be playing on Sundays. Amid his inexplicable free-fall the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders kept his cool.
“We all didn’t expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything possible, everything possible. I don’t feel like this happened for no reason,” he said. “All of this is, of course, fuel to the fire. Under no circumstances did we all know this was going to happen, but we understand we on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow’s the day. We going to be happy regardless. Legendary.”
His mother, on the other hand, is letting everyone know how she feels. On her Instagram account, Pilar Sanders has shared a number of critical messages for the NFL and the teams choosing to pass on her son.
The latest came from former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III who posted a video with the caption, “the Shedeur Sanders NFL draft hate is RIDICULOUS.”

Five quarterbacks have been drafted through the first three rounds with Cam Ward going No. 1 overall to the Titans, Jaxson Dart to the New York Giants, Tyler Shough to the New Orleans Saints, Jalen Milroe to the Seattle Seahawks and Dillon Gabriel to the Cleveland Browns.
A popular landing spot for Sanders at this point is with the Las Vegas Raiders who hold pick No. 108.
