Spring 2025 starts tomorrow: Here’s what the weather in Pa. will be like

Daylight saving time has come and gone. It stays lighter outside for longer. And, most importantly — the weather appears to be warming up.

Indeed — spring 2025 is almost here.

The spring solstice — also known as the “vernal equinox” — is tomorrow, March 20th, at 5:01 a.m. (ET), according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

EarthSky.com explains how this is the time when the sun crosses above the Earth’s equator, moving from south to north. This is why those in the Northern Hemisphere begin to experience spring and summer while those in the Southern Hemisphere move into autumn and winter.

As for what people in places such as Pennsylvania can expect this spring, weather-wise, there’s some good news: The Old Farmer’s Almanac states spring across the United States should feature temperatures higher than usual for the majority of areas.

April specifically is expected to be warmer than average in the “Intermountain West,” which encompasses states including Arizona, Montana, and Wyoming.

As far as Pennsylvania goes, Keystone State residents should expect a spring that’s “warm” and “wet,” the almanac says. Temperatures are expected to be about five degrees above the season’s average while rainfall, too, will be “above normal in April and slightly normal in May.”

Pennsylvanians have certainly gotten a healthy dose of spring-like weather the last few days: The current five-day forecast is showing a high of 72 today while tomorrow will hit 64 (although this is a possibility of showers.

The weather for the weekend is expected to be in the 50s through Sunday as well.

Guess that groundhog was wrong.
