Golden State Warriors’ Brandin Podziemski exited in the first minute of their game against the Brooklyn Nets due to a lower back injury. Head coach Steve Kerr confirmed it wasn’t serious, labeling him day-to-day. Despite initial struggles, the Warriors secured a 121-117 victory, bolstered by strong performances from Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler.
During the Golden State Warriors’ matchup against theBrooklyn Nets on March 6 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Warriors shooting guardBrandin Podziemski had to leave the game in pain in the very first minute. While his injury concern left fans discussing his potential comeback, head coach Steve Kerrhas shared a massive update, revealing that it was nothing serious.
The Golden State Warriors wrapped up their five-game road trip on a high note, securing a 4-1 record and sweeping both New York teams. Their recent 121-117 victory against the Brooklyn Nets extended their winning streak.
However, the win wasn’t without its concerns, as starting guard Brandin Podziemski exited the game less than a minute after tip-off, holding his lower back in visible discomfort. The sudden injury forced the Warriors’ head coach, Steve Kerr, to adjust his rotations.
“Brandin Podziemski is leaving the game in pain in Brooklyn in the first minute tonight. Grabbing at his lower back. Called to the bench and walked to the locker room,” Anthony Slater of The Athletic posted on X.
After the game, Kerr eased concerns about Podziemski’s condition, stating, “Doesn’t appear to be serious. Day-to-day.” This is great news for Golden State, as if they can stay healthy and maintain this form, they could be a serious threat in the postseason.
For now, all eyes remain on Podziemski’s recovery, as his growth has been one of the bright spots for the team this season. So far, there is no report of the return timeline of the young guard.
Podziemski’s absence was felt immediately on the court. After the 22-year-old guard walked out in pain, Buddy Hield stepped in. However, the adjustment didn’t go as smoothly as anticipated. The Warriors struggled to find their footing early, which propelled the Nets to jump out to a commanding 27-5 lead.
On the offensive end, even with Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler on the floor, they struggled to generate quality shots against Brooklyn’s defense. However, the direction of the game started shifting when Butler took charge, converting crucial three-point plays. By halftime, Golden State had cut the deficit to just five, setting the stage for Curry’s explosive second-half performance.
