“Swamp People” star Junior Edwards had died, according to multiple reports.
His grandson, “Lil” Willie Edwards, also announced his death on Facebook on Saturday.
“Rest easy pawpaw,” Willie wrote. “I know (you’re) probably running your hoop nets or doing something crazy inside those pearly gates.
“You will be extremely missed pawpaw,” he added. “We love you more than anything!!! Until we meet again.”
One of Edwards’ co-stars on the show, Ashley “Deadeye” Jones, also shared thoughts about his death on Instagram.
“The world lost a legend!” she wrote. “Mr. Junior Edwards passed away! Please be in prayer for the family! He was one of the greatest alligator hunters there is! He was a real outdoorsman! I watched this man bring in MONSTER gators at Duffys Gas Station in Pierre Part LA. This was after a loooooong day for both of us and you can tell it! Glad we took a second for a pic!”
People Magazine noted there are few other details available about how Junior died, but the outlet said that Willie wrote earlier this month that his “grandpa has been dealing with some health issues.”
“Y’all keep him in y’alls thoughts and prayers please,” he added. “We need a miracle. Get better for us papa, we love you!!!”
“Swamp People” has been on the History Channel for nearly 15 years, and Edwards was on the show for a good chunk of the run. He first appeared in 2010 and was a regular until 2015. He left the show but returned in 2021.
