‘Ted Lasso’ production delayed at Kansas City landmark because of storm

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Ted Lasso crew will have to believe that Kansas City is excited to be involved in the show after an unexpected change of plans.

The show’s schedule called for crews to block off streets and shoot scenes at Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza shopping and entertainment district Monday morning.

Crew and cast arrived as expected. So did pouring rain, which was not part of the plan.

Video shows the Ted Lasso production crew quickly packing up equipment as rain, thunder and lightning arrived. They were out of the area before flash flooding impacted other locations in the Kansas City area.

News of the show’s plans to film the fourth season of the popular show around Jason Sudeikis’ hometown surfaced less than a month ago.

Some fans braved Monday’s downpour in hopes of watching part of the production shoot.

“It’s just kind of a nice energy. It’s a nice energy to see something that’s going on that’s positive,” Anne Davis, Kansas City, said.

Kansas City’s famous Gates BBQ restaurant on Main Street provided a backdrop for a scene over the weekend. Other landmarks across the city are also involved in the production.

Filming is expected in Blue Springs later this week. Lee’s Summit may also be used, if permits are approved.

The release date for season 4 has not been announced.
