‘The boys are really having fun’ — Lakers fans react to blowout win over Spurs

In the second of a trio of back-to-backs over eight days, the Lakers looked to start a win streak against the Spurs.

Surprisingly, they once again brought the energy despite playing their fourth game in five days. Led by their role players, the scoring of Austin Reaves and the playmaking of Luka Dončić, the Lakers overcame a brief slow start to control the game throughout.

The lead nearly touched 30 points in the second half before a big run from the visitors between the third and fourth quarters made the score a bit more respectable and forced the Lakers to take the final minutes seriously.

It wasn’t a perfect start for the Lakers, who fell behind 6-1 early in the game. But they quickly righted the ship with a trio of 3-pointers as they took the lead and extended it to double digits by the end of the frame.

Second quarter: “Basketball can be such a simple game when people and the ball move”

The Lakers really had a grasp on the game. Even in the brief moments the Spurs made a run, cutting it to six points early in the frame, the Lakers responded. A 3-pointer by Dorian Finney-Smith forced a timeout and led to some celebrations from the bench with the Lakers in a comfortable spot.

Third quarter: “Give Jordan Goodwin his standard contract”

The Lakers put the pedal to the medal in the third quarter, something they haven’t commonly done this season. The lead continually grew throughout the period and peaked at 28 points late in the quarter.

However, the Spurs showed some signs of life, scoring the final nine points of the frame.

Fourth quarter: “Lakers sure are trying to give this game away”

The Spurs quickly scored the first six points of the fourth, trimming the lead all the way down to 13 points. A quick timeout from Redick helped stim the tide and well San Antonio did cut it down again to 11 points, one final run was capped off by Austin Reaves to put the game away.
