TIGERS VS MARINERS PREDICTION, PICKS & ODDS FOR TODAY’S MLB GAME

Our MLB betting picks expect early action for both offenses here, with the Mariners’ Cal Raleigh potentially jumping on Tigers starter Casey Mize.

The Detroit Tigers are up and running in the win column after last night’s 9-6 victory against the Seattle Mariners, but they face a sterner test tonight as Logan Gilbert takes the ball.

Still, there were encouraging signs as Detroit jumped all over Seattle starter Emerson Hancock yesterday with a six-run first inning, and my Tigers vs. Mariners predictions expect at least some of the fireworks to carry over to the second game of this series.

Check out my MLB picks for this April 1 nightcap.

Tigers vs Mariners prediction

My Tigers vs Mariners best bet: Over 3.5 F5 (-120 at bet365)

Coming off a stellar 2024 and his first All-Star nod, Logan Gilbert delivered the goods for the Seattle Mariners on Opening Day. But, as good as the Seattle ace looked, I don’t buy into today’s clash with the Detroit Tigers being a pitching duel.

Instead, I’m zagging to the Over on 3.5 runs through the first five innings — and that total feels like an overreaction to what we’ve seen so far.

For starters, the Tigers tucked in at the plate last night on the way to 18 hits, with seven Detroit batters enjoying a multi-hit outing. That production was due after the visitors outhit the Los Angeles Dodgers in two of their three matchups last week.

In a very small sample size, this Tigers lineup also has a solid record against Gilbert, including Riley Greene’s 3-for-6 mark.

Then there’s Detroit starter Casey Mize, who finished with a 4.49 ERA last season and was left off the team’s ALDS roster. Injuries have hampered his progress in the big leagues, and this feels like a nice spot for the Mariners’ underwhelming lineup to cash in as the righty heads to the mound for the first time this year.

Julio Rodriguez shook off a slow start to 2025 with a triple and a single in last night’s loss, and it doesn’t seem like a stretch for the hosts to put a couple of early runs on the scoreboard here.

Three of the Tigers’ four contests this season have served up 5+ runs through the first five innings, and the visitors have cashed in full-game Over in six straight contests dating back to last year.

I’m certainly not predicting a repeat of yesterday’s run-fest, but I like this price for one or both of these teams to throw some early punches.

Tigers vs Mariners same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 3.5 F5Logan Gilbert to record the win

Cal Raleigh Over 0.5 RBI

There’s no question that the Mariners have a major edge in this pitching clash, so I’m taking the hosts to build a lead around Gilbert and hand him his first win of the season. While Detroit has won four in a row against Seattle, the Mariners are 45-26 in their last 71 outings at T-Mobile Park.

Gilbert has averaged six innings of work through his past five starts, to go with 7.4 strikeouts per game, and the Mariners’ best path to victory is for their ace to go deep into this contest.

I’m rounding out my SGP with a wager on Cal Raleigh to build off last night’s late two-run homer. It’s been a shaky first week for the Seattle catcher, who’s sitting on a .118 average after signing his big contract extension, but the talent is there. He proved that with a 100-RBI season last year — 70 of which came against righties.

Hitting behind Rodriguez in the No. 3 slot is another reason to like Raleigh’s chances of driving in a run here.
