U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace posts video of Lowcountry confrontation

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – U.S. Congresswoman Nancy Mace posted a video on social media Saturday showing a heated exchange with a fellow shopper.

Mace said she was shopping at an Ulta beauty store when the confrontation happened. She said while the man got in her face, she “won’t be backing down.”

The man in the video also posted the exchange from his phone, claiming he ran into the congresswoman, who represents South Carolina’s First Congressional District, and questioned her about when she would hold another town hall.

In the video, Mace says she has over a dozen every year and then tells the man she voted for gay marriage twice.

He asked what that had to do with town halls.

Here is a transcript of a portion of the video Mace posted:

MACE: You could have come to any of them last year. I had over a dozen.

MAN: I’m asking about this year, not 2024.

MACE: Where were you the year before that or the year before that? Because you know what, you people on the left are crazy. You’re crazy. You’re absolutely f****** crazy.

MAN: So I’m absolutely f****** crazy?

MACE: You are and get out of my face. You’re insane. Goodbye. F*** you.

MAN: You’re going to f*** me? You’re going to be voted out so fast this year.

MACE: I’m not. I won by so much.

MAN: You’re a disgrace to this state, that’s what you are. You’re a disgrace. I asked you a simple question. And you just go off on this tirade and tell me to “F*** you?”

Mace has not responded to a request for comment.

The man in the video posted to his social media, saying he won’t apologize for speaking up or for publicly asking a politician to do her job.
