The 2025 Big Ten Tournament semifinals are set.

No. 1-seed Michigan State began a day of quarterfinal action by showing why it was the conference’s regular-season champion. It defeated No. 8 Oregon 74-64. Star freshman Jase Richardson led the Spartans with 17 points, while Jaden Akins and Jeremy Fears Jr. added 12 and 11, respectively. Tom Izzo’s team continues to cement its position as a No. 2 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. It will face Wisconsin in the semifinals on Saturday.

That last sentence is due to the Badgers’ decisive 86-70 quarterfinal win over UCLA. Wisconsin tied a Big Ten Tournament record with 19 3-point makes. It led by 27 points with just 3:10 remaining before emptying its bench — UCLA closed on an 11-0 run to make the final margin look less lopsided. Wisconsin looks as dangerous as any team in the country, with an All-American in John Tonje leading the way. It has a real chance to capture the conference tournament title.

Third, No. 2-seed Maryland played arguably its best game of the season in an 88-65 blowout win over No. 7 Illinois. Sophomore guard Rodney Rice led the Terrapins with 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while standout center Derik Queen added 19 points and 10 rebounds. Maryland as a team shot 42.3% from the floor and 47.8% from three, plus held Illinois to just 36.5% shooting and 22.2% from long range. The Terrapins are on to the second semifinal matchup.

The Terrapins’ opponent will be No. 3-seed Michigan. The Wolverines triumphed over No. 6 Purdue in the day’s final game. It won 86-68, holding Purdue to just 33.8% shooting from the field and 31.8% from three. After three straight losses to close the season, Michigan appears ready for a deep run in March.
