USMNT vs Canada highlights, analysis: Canada wins CONCACAF Nations League third-place game after Marsch sent off, Davies injured

It’s worth noting that the CBS Sports broadcasting crew in SoFi Stadium today was full of former USMNT players (including match commentator Tony Meola) who are very close with Jesse Marsch, who to co-host a podcast with Meola, studio analyst Charlie Davies and digital host Jimmy Conrad before his current role.

Meola referred to Marsch by his first name at several points throughout the match. So it’s notable that Meola immediately refused to give Marsch the benefit of the doubt regarding his reaction to Max Arfsten not being shown a penalty early in the second half, which resulted in a red card for Marsch.

(Also, it’s very good to see Meola, the longtime USMNT goalkeeper, healthy enough to call this game just a month removed from suffering a heart attack in late February.)
