Watch Will Howard's emotional reaction to Pittsburgh Steelers picking him in NFL draft

Will Howard covered his eyes and held back tears.

As he watched the Pittsburgh Steelers announce his selection on day three of the NFL draft, he swelled with emotion.

The reaction was shared in a video on X by Excel Sports Management, the sports agency that represents Howard.

In the rest of the clip, Howard immediately turns to embrace his mother, Maureen, followed by others.

Pittsburgh took Howard, the former national championship-winning quarterback for Ohio State, in the sixth round, using the No. 185 overall pick.

After transferring from Kansas State last year, Howard helped to lead the Buckeyes to a title by throwing for 4,010 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Dwayne Haskins Jr. and C.J. Stroud were the only other passers in school history to throw as many yards in a season.

By landing in Pittsburgh, Howard returns to his home state. He grew up in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, a suburb west of Philadelphia.
