‘We have dynamite up front’ – Pedri hails Raphinha and Lamine Yamal after Barcelona beat Benfica

Barcelona midfielder Pedri praised his team’s attackers after Hansi Flick’s side beat Benfica 3-1 to move into the Champions League quarter-finals.

Lamine Yamal and Raphinha were both in brilliant form as the Catalans saw off the challenge of Benfica with an excellent performance.

Pedri scooped the MVP award but felt it should have gone to one of his team-mates instead.

“The MVP could have gone to Raphinha or Lamine. They’re spectacular players. Robert, who finishes everything… we have dynamite up front that we have to take advantage of,” he told the media.

“I’ve always tried to work on defence. My father told me that if I play regularly, I should at least work hard and defend for the team.”

Barcelona’s star midfielder also took time out to dedicate the win to the late Dr Minarro Garcia and admitted it has been a difficult few days.

“It was a tough game after Saturday. First of all, I want to send strength to my family and friends, and we’ll try to win everything for him,” he added.

“I think that in the previous game we came out asleep and in this one we scored and they scored against us… but well, the team maintained its level of concentration.”

Barca’s win means they go on to play either Lille or Dortmund in the quarter-finals.
