Selection Sunday is barely 72 hours away, with March Madness brackets on the horizon as conference college basketball tournaments nationwide reach their conclusions.
On the women’s side, UCLA has bolstered its argument to be the top overall seed after avenging two regular-season losses to USC in the Big Ten tournament final. Still, the women’s NCAA Tournament feels wide open. National Player of the Year frontrunner JuJu Watkins, could have the last laugh with the Trojans, while defending champion South Carolina, consistent powerhouse UConn, and an excellent Texas squad have all earned their place among the list of true contenders.
Duke has taken over as the new No. 1 in the men’s Top 25 rankings after Auburn ended its regular season with back-to-back losses. While that opens the door for teams like St. John’s and Michigan State to hope for a top seed in the men’s NCAA Tournament, conference tournaments could still cause a shakeup of the presumed contenders, many of whom hail from the SEC and Big Ten.
