“The fun thing about Jack is he’s on another level, and just the energy he brings, he’s just a big kid and that energy and that playfulness, you know, is such a such an amazing thing as it kind of relates to the theme of Minecraft, the game and the film,” he explained. “I mean, he was pretty method in between scenes, on breaks when we were shooting, Jack would be in the trailer just blasting away at Minecraft.”
A Minecraft Movie has shattered box office expectations, bringing in a whopping $157 million in its opening weekend, making it the biggest domestic debut of the year and the best in history for a video game adaption, according to Variety.
As for its critical response, the film has received mixed reviewers so far on Rotten Tomatoes. While it holds a disappointing 49% rating from critics based on 112 reviews, audiences responded much more positively, giving A Minecraft Movie an impressive 87% from over 2,400 verified ratings.

When Will A Minecraft Movie Be Streaming On Max?
A Minecraft Movie is being distributed by Warner Bros., which means the adventure film will eventually stream on Max. While an exact release date hasn’t been announced, Warner Bros. typically adds its theatrical releases to Max between 60 and 100 days after they hit theaters—so you can expect the film to arrive sometime in June or July 2025.
For example, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire debuted on March 29, 2024, and began streaming on Max 97 days later, on July 4. The movie musical Wonka (2023) had a shorter window, arriving on Max 84 days after its theatrical debut. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom had the quickest turnaround, hitting the platform just 67 days after its December 2023 release.
