CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Sean Miller is leaving Xavier Univesity to become the new head men’s basketball coach at Texas, a source confirms to FOX19 Now.
Miller, who led Xavier to an NCAA Tournament First Four victory of Texas on Wednesday, returned to Xavier in 2022 for a second stint as the Musketeer’s head coach after previously leaving XU for Arizona in 2009.
A source confirms Miller officially accepted the job Sunday after Texas fired head coach Rodney Terry.
In the last three seasons at Xavier, Miller was 65-40 with a Sweet 16 appearance in 2023 against Texas, won by the Longhorns, 83-71.
Miller was 120-47 in five seasons at Xavier from 2005-09, a run that included Miller’s first Elite Eight appearance in 2008 and a Sweet 16 in 2009.
